Holiday Lodge Sports Cafe

I'll be honest, I am not a fan of the interior of this restaurant, but the pizzas are as good as any I have found in Brunei. I therefore sometimes use the Sports Cafe for takeaway pizza's. I am yet to find a pizza place in Brunei that uses good enough quality meat toppings, and so therefore we stick to veggie. Three good quality pizzas, one a margherita, the others with additional toppings set me back $25. Not as good value as the Raja, but not bad, and I am happy to recommend the restaurant, half way up Jln Jerudong, attached to the holiday lodge hotel for a no nonsense pizza.

I won't offer a score as I did not eat in.

Raja

Raja is an Indian eaterie located just behind the Seri complex on Jalan Tutong. Raja offers pretty good food in a clean and simple environment. It offers excellent value for money and on this score I would recommend the masala dosai. On my latest visit I fed two adults and two (young) children for $8!You can push the bill up by ordering meat dishes but you would struggle to spend more than $10 per head. Highly recommended.

Tandoor.com

Tandoor.com delivers excellent indian food in elegant surroundings. Our visit took place on a quiet weekday evening and the ambience in the restaurant was excellent, the service unobtrusive yet attentive.

Our starters were paneer pakora and tandoori fish. Both were excellent, though my dinning companion had to help me to finish the rich, yet delicately spiced pakora- he was happy to oblige. For the main course we had kedai chicken and chicken makhani. The chicken makhani probably gets the vote. Excellent flavour and rich gravy which complemented the high quality plain naans well. The flavour of the kedai chicken was good suited my taste. However, I prefer to avoid bones (in restaurants) and therefore if I was to choose between the two I would go for the makhani.

An excellent sweet lhassi was an super accompaniment to the meal. Our bill came to less than B$50. Certainly not cheap, but, given the excellent surroundings and service certainly good value. I am happy to rec0mmend tandoor.com to my readers.

Tandoor.com is located just off the kiulap roundabout. The restaurants website gives clear directions and a sample menu: http://www.tandoorbru.com/index.html

Welcome to my Brunei Restaurant Review Blog. My aim is to build a portfolio of restaurant reviews to help readers choose between the many restaurants in Brunei. Where appropriate I will include links to the restaurant's web page and I will provide location details as well as reviews. Each restaurant will also be given a score in each of the following categories:

Food
Service
Ambience
Value

In time the total score will be used to rank Brunei's restaurants.
